Description:

In the 1930s, a North Carolina distributor of Shell Oil built their gas stations in the shape of a giant, brightly painted yellow clamshell. This one on Sprague Street is the last surviving clamshell gas station although it is abandoned and merely a local curiosity for urban explorers.
