Town Creek Indian Mound

This mound was built by the Pee Dee tribe probably around 980 CE. Excavations in the 1930s uncovered buildings and artifacts including a burial and mortuary house. Guided tours are available although visitors can wander around the grounds and replicated structures freely at no cost for admission.
