In the late 1920s a renowned mathematician stuck a pin in a map. He declared that spot to be the geographical center of North America. The town or Rugby, which was near to the pinned location, claimed this distinction. Ever since the title has been of huge controversy in North Dakota with nearby Balta also making the claim. However, the stone obelisk which supposedly marks this coveted position stands in Rugby and it is not likely to move. (Photo by Brian M)
