This Gothic estate was built in 1863 by a French Huguenot who decided he wanted to bring European design and luxury to the undeveloped landscape of Ohio. The exterior and interior are characterized by intricate designs, painted ceilings, and toilets - at a time when most people used the facilities somewhere "offsite." Now the castle is open for daily tours although it is also a popular venue for weddings and special events.
