Description:

A gorgeous seascape was named by 17th century explorer Sebastian Vizcaino after his own namesake, St. Sebastian - a poor canonized Christian who apparently met his end as a martyr - beaten to death after he had survived being shot multiple times with arrows. The ocean lasts as far our as the eye can see - you can almost imagine the arrival of Spanish galleons on the distant horizon. To see this incredible vista take Cape Sebastian Rd. and follow it all the way to the parking lot where a 1.5-mile trail takes you down to the beach. If you're there in December to January or February to May, you may get the privilege of witnessing the gray whale migration southward.
