Cosmo the Tufted Puffin Statue
Cosmo was installed in the summer of 2018 on Coquille Point. Puffins with their colorful rounded bills are found living in colonies high up on seaside cliffs. Cosmo's particular species is found in the North Pacific. If you look closely at Cosmo's feathers, you'll see the materials that went into his making - recycled and repurposed plastic such as flip flops, pipes, brushes, golf balls - trash and refuse that polluted the beaches. This puffin ambassador is as much a statement as he is a sculpture.
