Description:
Three stories high, this public library opened its doors in 1913 and today is the main branch of the Multnomah County Library system. The Georgian-style building was designed by architect A.E. Doyle and is one of the first libraries to feature an open-plan design. It's a great place to get in some Fitbit steps, too; the main staircase has a total of 92 steps. "Ramona" fans will have to make a pilgrimage here; it is the home of the Beverly Cleary's Children's library. An interesting bit of trivia: the collection housed here weighs more than 875 tons and takes up 17 miles of shelf space!
