Overlook Hotel from The Shining

The Overlook Hotel in Stephen King's "The Shining" may have been inspired by his stay at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, but the film version was filmed at the Timberline Lodge near Mount Hood, OR. Like any similarly placed resort lodge, there's an abundance of seasonal activities such as hiking and skiing. If you want the creepy atmosphere Stephen King wrote about, you'll have to visit the Stanley.
