Proposal Rock

Originally called "Schlock" by the Native Americans who lived there, it was renamed after a legend that says sea captain Charley Gage proposed to Della Gage in 1900. The bride-to-be's mother bestowed this tiny island with the romantic name. At low tide you can walk to the island and then hike up to the top. Just be careful because there are no guardrails. To get there park in the public lot at the Neskowin turnoff and entering onto the beach directly in front of Proposal Rock. It's about a five-minute walk from the lot to the beach.
