Sumpter Valley Dredge

This historic gold dredge was built in 1935 even though the first signs of gold in the are appeared in 1862. It worked until 1954. The dredge is no longer in service but you can still see the marks left by the frantic mining for gold during the rush. The dredge is open daily for self tours but the visitors' center and gold-panning activities remain closed until further notice. Check stateparks.oregon.gov for updated information.
