Tamolitch Falls

Saves: 48
Check-ins: 4
A cobalt-blue pool is at the bottom of a seasonal waterfall. The falls were at one time constant but the flow from the McKenzie River was diverted for hydroelectric use. It now only flows from runoff during heavy rainy seasons. The extremely frigid pool is deceptively inviting, but not recommended for swimming. The average temp is 37 degrees Fahrenheit (water freezes at 32 degrees), thus hypothermia is a very real danger. The trail to Tamolitch Blue Pool can be accessed from Carmen Smith Reservoir (3.3 miles north) or from McKenzie River Trailhead: Tamolitch Blue Pool (2.1 miles south). Make sure you wear hiking boots because the trail is very rocky. (Submitted by September Biorn)
