Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike

When a new road was built in 1968 this old turnpike became obsolete. If you think the old tunnel and surrounding area look creepy you aren't the only one. The producers of the 2009 movie "The Road" (starring Viggo Mortensen) also thought it was disturbing enough to be featured in the post-apocalyptic movie. No cars are allowed on the stretch of road but people can hike or bike on it at their own risk. If you do plan on going make sure you bring flashlights; the area is not lighted and there are some hazards to watch out for.
