Buttermilk Falls, Weatherly

Buttermilk (and Luke's) Falls near Weatherly, PA are found along a lightly trafficked 1.2-mile out-and-back trail good for all skill levels. The trail use is for hiking, walking, and nature trips. This broad and smooth "rail-trail" will have you reaching Buttermilk Falls in about 10 minutes while walking at a comfortable pace. At 46 feet the Buttermilk Falls are one of the highest waterfalls in Pennsylvania. There's also a short trail to a location behind the falls. You'll choose which way you'll want to turn because there are waterfalls a short distance in either direction. If you start by going to the left towards Buttermilk Falls, try to read the informational signs in this area before starting. The hike is very scenic with river and cliff views. Near the falls is a picnic area where you can relax and enjoy lunch while listening to the sounds of the nearby falls. The trail continues north from here towards White Haven.
