Description:

These blast furnaces were a part of the Homestead Steel Works, producing at least a ton of iron daily at its peak. They started production in 1884, continuing for almost a century before closing down in 1982. Guided tours through the grounds are provided, especially of interest to those with a steampunk obsession. Lately, the site has become an inspiration to artists, starting with the giant deer sculpture. Tours are given Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but you must purchase tickets in advance on the website.
