Description:

This is one bizarre natural phenomenon because the hotter it is outside, the more ice is accumulated inside. What's even stranger is that when it's coldest outside the ice mine is closed because there's no ice! Really weird, right? Not really if you think about it logically. From April or May until September, cold cave and air comes into contact with hot groundwater and forms ice; from September to Spring, warm air trapped in the rocks from the summer before escapes to melt the ice. Summer hours are Wed - Sun 10-6 which ends on Labor Day.
