Description:

Dobbin House Tavern, built in 1776 by Reverend Alexander Dobbin, is the oldest standing structure in Gettysburg and originally served as both a family residence and a classical school. The building is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad and later played a role as a makeshift field hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg. Today it operates as a colonial style restaurant that preserves its historic charm with candlelit rooms and period decor. Popular dishes include the King's Onion Soup, Maryland style crab cakes, char grilled steaks, and homemade breads and desserts.
