Description:

Established in 1773, Hanna's Town was the first seat of government for Westmoreland County and played a key role in early western Pennsylvania settlement and the American Revolution. It adopted the Hanna's Town Resolves in 1775, which declared resistance to British authority and established a local militia. The town was attacked and burned in 1782, leading to the county seat's relocation to Greensburg in 1786. Later converted to farmland, the site was preserved as an archaeological resource and became a historic park in 1969, featuring reconstructed buildings and educational programs that celebrate its history.
