Description:

This coal mine tour is located in McDade Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Visitors will board a mine car and descend the slope into the Clark Vein of Coal where, at the foot of the shaft, shall begin the hour long tour through the main gangway of the mine. You'll stop at various points along the way to discuss the different aspects of the anthracite mining industry. Once exiting the Clark Vein tunnel, you'll then enter and explore the Dunmore #1 tunnel then the Dunmore #2 tunnel. The tour concludes where the miners spent their final days in the mine in 1966. The tour is open 7 days a week and adjacent to the mine tour is the Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum with exhibits on Northeastern PA's mining and industrial history.
