Monongahela Incline

This funicular's history started in 1870 and is the oldest operating one in the U.S. It starts at the charming red brick building near Smithfield Bridge and slowly makes its way up Coal Hill. As such, it was primarily purposed for carrying coal but is now used to carry passengers between light rails and buses.
