Description:

Seven Tubs Recreation Area located in Luzerne County is an outdoor, publicly accessible recreational site in upstate PA covering 400 massive acres. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources owns Seven Tubs which originated from the glacial meltwater forming water-filled potholes over 12,000 years ago. You'll find many activities here but the highlight of this site is Wheelbarrow Run - a ravine with tubs chiseled into the underlying bedrock that eventually meets up with the more extensive Laurel Run in an area known as Whirlpool Alley. If you can tolerate cold water, the natural slides are pretty enjoyable. From the lower parking lot you can access the hiking trails which travel along the 1.8-mile Audubon Loop or see the tubs located along the 0.3-mile main loop. The hike is easy and the park has beautiful views and gorgeous scenery making it very popular with hikers.
