Description:

This funicular with its old-school car was first put into service in 1891. Two cars travel in opposite directions - one starting at the top while the other starts at the bottom - both canceling out the weight of the other. This is one of the many funiculars built in Pennsylvania by settling Europeans who wished to bring a bit of their engineering and ideas to the New World.
