Description:
Kraus Campo is a rooftop garden and sculptural landscape on Carnegie Mellon University’s campus in Pittsburgh, designed by artist Mel Bochner and landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh. Its centerpiece is a sinuous, tile-covered platform shaped like a French curve, overlaid with random numerals, surrounded by meandering orange pathways and shrub plantings. The garden also features a reversed-order quotation by Ludwig Wittgenstein on the back wall, turning the space into a meditative exploration of order, chaos, time, and meaning.
