Description:
The USS Requin is a Tench-class submarine and the only ship in the U.S. Navy to be named after the shark, which in French is "requin." She was launched in 1945 and decommissioned in 1968. The Requin has been awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Medal with "Europe" clasp, and the National Defense Service Medal. Since 1990, the USS Requin has been a museum ship at The Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
