Description:

Aunt Carrie’s Restaurant in Narragansett, Rhode Island has been a local favorite since 1920 when Carrie Cooper first began selling chowder, lemonade, and the clam fritters that eventually became known as clam cakes. Over time the small stand grew into a full restaurant that is still operated by the Cooper family and retains pieces of the original building. Today Aunt Carrie’s is best known as the birthplace of the Rhode Island clam cake and continues to draw visitors for its creamy chowder, lobster rolls, fish and chips, and classic fried seafood platters. Popular desserts include homemade pies, warm Indian pudding, seasonal strawberry shortcake, and traditional ice cream treats.
