Bronze Bruno by Eli Harvey

American sculptor Eli Harvey (1860-1957) adorned his iconic "Bronze Bruno" the bear sculpture with his signature in 1927. The Class Day Mascot was first placed in front of Marvel Gymnasium, but moved to its current location on the main College Green in 1989. The pedestal on which the bear stands contains a piece of the slate rock that was stepped upon by Puritan Roger Williams in 1636 when he proclaimed the land would be the city of Providence.
