Crook Point Bascule Bridge

Locally known as the "stuck-up" bridge, this abandoned railroad thoroughfare is not pretentious - it is held fast into place after being abandoned in 1976. It was built in 1908 but the second half of the 20th century saw a plummet in train use. This drawbridge became obsolete and the ROR just didn't justify operating it any longer. Instead of tearing it down, which would also have been an expensive undertaking, one side was raised permanently to deter any use of it and there it remains to this day.
