Gamecock Statue

Measuring 20 feet by 20 feet and weighing 10 tons, this bronze male chicken was gifted to the University of South Carolina by an alumnus. Frozen in a fighting stance, the mighty rooster is the guardian of the Williams-Brice Stadium as well as the mascot of the football team. The spread-eagle bird was installed in September of 2020 at a cost of one million bucks. The statue is easily seen from the street, but there are plenty of paid parking lots surrounding the stadium if you wish to explore a bit. (Submitted by Jimmy Olsen)
