Description:

The Harry Hampton Visitor Center at Congaree National Park is staffed by park rangers who help visitors plan their trips, offer information, and lead guided programs. The center features natural and cultural history exhibits, a park film, and an Eastern National bookstore. Adjusting the center's hours allows the park to focus on busier times and offer programs both in the park and the local community. Established in 1976, Congaree National Park preserves the largest intact old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the U.S. As an International Biosphere Reserve and federally-designated Wilderness Area, it serves as an educational and research site for visitors, students, and scientists worldwide.
