Issaqueena Falls

Sliding 200 feet down a slanting bed or rock, this waterfall is named for an Indian maiden. Legend has it that this brave Cherokee girl warned her lover from an enemy tribe of an impending attack. To escape her tribe who chased her after her betrayal she pretended to jump from the top but actually hid with her lover under a small shelf beneath the falls. (Photo by Shawn S)
