Kershaw arrived in 1758 and helped plan South Carolina's oldest inland town, while Hagler, a member of the Catawba Indian Nation, aided Camden's residents and the South Carolina militia in repelling the French during the French and Indian War in the 1750s and 1760s. In honor of his father's 60-year commitment as a Camden businessman, Johnny Hagins Jr., a Greenville lawyer, donated statues commemorating these historical figures. (Submitted by Kelli Seeman-Smith)
