Description:
This Neoclassical structure was built in 1806 by shipping magnate Nathaniel Russell. A white balustrade wraps around the entire south bay of the house but many visitors are enchanted by the winding staircase that passes three floors. Elaborate designs, artwork, and carvings are some of the marvels of this house with materials that included 24k gold leaf, Carolina gray brick, and heart-of-pine. In the splendid gardens flower beds, shrubs, and citrus trees bloom every year.
