Description:
The Pon-Pon Chapel of Ease, located in Round O, South Carolina, dates back to the early 18th century and was part of the Anglican Church's effort to serve rural parishioners in the area. Built around 1725, it was named after the nearby Pon Pon River (now known as the Edisto River). The chapel served as a vital religious and social center for St. Bartholomew's Parish. Over time, the structure suffered from fires and natural decay, leaving it in ruins by the 19th century. Today, its remnants stand as a hauntingly beautiful historic site, reflecting the region's colonial and ecclesiastical past.
