Badlands National Park Sign

In Jackson County, South Dakota you'll come across the Badlands National Park Sign and the entrance to Badlands National Park which preserves 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires blended with the largest protected mixed-grass prairie in the United States. Red Shirt Table is the park's highest point at 3,340 feet. Badlands National Monument, although authorized on March 4, 1929, was not established as a national monument until January 25, 1939. It was designated a national park on November 10, 1978.
