The Black Hills Central Railroad is a heritage railroad that operates in South Dakota. This 1880 train operates on what was the former Keystone Branch of the Burlington Northern Railroad. It's route was between Hill City, South Dakota and Keystone, South Dakota and it was primarily used as a mining railroad for Black Hills gold. The railroad was later used to haul equipment for the carving of Mount Rushmore. The now restored railroad has been featured on such television shows as "Gunsmoke" (the episode "Snow Train"), "General Hospital," and "Into the West," a TNT mini-series. The trains operate between May and October over the scenic 10-mile line.
