Petrified Wood Park in Lemmon, South Dakota encompasses an entire city block in downtown Lemmon. The park was built from 1930-32 by town men who scavenged rocks and fossils from the area and hauled them back to Lemmon. They then built a castle, wishing well, waterfall, and pile sculptures made of petrified wood. 100 petrified wood sphere sculptures can be found spread around the park. They can be up to 20 feet tall and are made from petrified wood and round rocks from the Cannonball River. There are also two separate museums in the park, one of which houses a gift shop.
