Prairie Wind Overlook

South Dakota is essentially a high desert prairie and within the Badlands you'll see one of the most extensive mixed-grass prairies in the United States! This Prairie seems to continue forever even as invasive plants threaten what little is left. The National Park does all it can to manage this problem, including prescribed fires and herbicides. That said, nothing can prepare you for the fantastic views across these grasslands from this viewing point along the loop road.
