Description:

The Sheep Mountain Table is a 14.6-mile off-the-beaten-path dirt road in Badlands National Park. This area is not as popular as other park areas, but it's prime for exploring. The location of the Table is in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Exit Highway 27 for Sheep Mountain Table and travel about 4 miles on a well-maintained gravel road. Soon you will reach an overlook and a looped turnaround spot. If you want to continue, it's a good idea to have a more rugged off-road vehicle or at least a car with high clearance. There are no amenities anywhere out here. You may encounter animals here, potentially rattlesnakes, so hike with care.
