White River Valley Overlook

The White River Valley Overlook showcases an impressive rock progression and a comprehensive view of the Badlands near a set of tall formations known as the Castle to the west and below into the White River Valley. If you visit the area near dusk, you're bound to spot some bighorn sheep when they come out to graze. This overlook is an exciting place to stop. The rock is like petrified mud and you really cannot fathom the blackness of the Black Hills until you see them for yourself. Most of the hills are weeds and grass, devoid of any trees. The area is arid and reminiscent of California's rolling hills.
