The author of "Roots: The Saga of an American Family" lived in the bungalow-style home with his grandparents from 1921-1929. Originally built by his maternal grandfather in 1919, the house now serves as a museum with exhibits detailing Haley's life and ancestry. Alex Haley is buried on the grounds. House tours are from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM (last admission at 4:30). General admission is $10 per person. (Submitted by @queenpoker)
