Description:
Although the church was established in 1820, they didn't have an official meeting place until 1902. Before then they met in a rudimentary log cabin with a dirt floor and a firepit for the cold Smoky Mountain winters. John D. McCampbell, who was the church's pastor in 1902, was also a skilled carpenter. In his deft hands, this simple, white church was built in 115. It cost the congregation $115 and today would be around $3500 - which is still considered a deal!
