Description:

The Henry Whitehead House is a historic log cabin located on Forge Creek Road in Townsend, TN. The cabin was built in the late 1800s and is an excellent example of the traditional log cabin construction style of the region. The cabin was originally used as a residence by Henry Whitehead, a local farmer and blacksmith, and his family. Today, the Henry Whitehead House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is maintained as a museum by the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center. Visitors can tour the cabin and learn about the history of the area and the traditional building techniques used in constructing log cabins in the late 19th century.
