Description:

Also known as the Patterson Forge Tunnel, this thoroughfare was used as a water-diversion tunnel to aid in industrial purposes. The tunnel has a dark history - being blasted out and dug mostly with slave labor. Montgomery Bell indeed owned the largest number of slaves in the county. Now the tunnel is a popular spot for tourists, hikers, and Boy Scout troops.
