Worley’s Cave, located in Tennessee, has been in the Watson family for nearly a century, with their roots in the region going back 250 years. Spanning approximately 4.5 miles with various side passages, the cave holds historical significance, including its role in saltpeter mining during the Civil War. Originally owned by Elias S. Worley, it has also been called Morrell’s Cave, named after local explorer John Morril, though the name Worley’s Cave has stood the test of time.
