Description:
Dedicated to the Mexican woman who visited prisoners of war and interceded on their behalf, even though they were opponents. Because of her actions, dozens of prisoners were saved from execution during the Goliad massacre. Not much is known about this heroine, whose descendants, in 2004, memorialized her place in history with this statue. It is, fittingly, between the Presidio and the Fannin Monument.
