Battleship Texas

Update: The ship was moved from the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site in La Porte to Galveston in August 2022 so it could undergo much-needed repairs. Once those repairs are complete, the ship will not be returned to La Porte.

The USS Texas served in World War I and II, and was decommissioned in 1948 after a glorious military career since launching in 1912. She was the first ship to mount anti-aircraft guns, which would be quite necessary in Iwo Jima. See her gun turrets, tour the sailors' cabins and captain's quarters of this once-great battle maiden.
