Bill Pickett was one of the first African-American rodeo stars and a prominent figure in the early rodeo circuit. He developed a unique technique called "bulldogging," which involved wrestling a steer to the ground by grabbing its horns and twisting its neck. Pickett would ride alongside a running steer, leap from his horse, and bring the steer down using this method. (Submitted by Anthony Von Plinsky)
