Lantex Theater

The history of the venue started in 1927 when it opened with much fanfare. It was a very modern theater, complete with a large, evaporative cooling system that was the predecessor of the modern day air conditioner. As you can imagine the theater became a popular haven during the sweltering Texas summers. The first show was Universal Pictures' "The Fourth Commandment" and as of today the theater still remains open and in operation. There are three weekly showings as well as live music.
