Description:
Opened in 1755, it has the distinction of being the oldest unrestored stone church in America. The exterior ornamentations have gracefully faded away but the interior frescoes are still visible. On August 15 of every year the church experiences a "double solar illumination" which is caused by the purposeful angling of the western entrance in alignment with the sunset. The grounds are also quite lovely and relaxing to visit. This along with the other San Antonio Missions is a UNESCO WHS. The mission is open every day from 9 AM to 5 PM.
