Description:
The Original El Fenix in Dallas opened in 1918 when Miguel “Mike” Martinez transformed his small café into what would become one of the earliest and most influential Tex Mex restaurants in the country. The name El Fenix was chosen to symbolize a fresh start and the restaurant soon grew into a beloved local landmark. Over the years it became known for classic dishes such as cheese enchiladas, chile con carne, fajitas, tacos, and hearty combination plates. Today the downtown location remains a popular spot where generations of diners return for its comforting and familiar Tex Mex flavors.
