----- PERMANENTLY CLOSED ----- The Austin Museum of Popular Culture is an oft-overlooked gem of the city. Its love for Austin is readily apparent in its presentation, exhibition, and interpretation of the city's art and culture of the past 50 years, which it seeks to make accessible, understandable, and, most of all, worthwhile, to every individual. The museum's collection of unique and frequently long-forgotten posters, prints, photographs, and ephemera are preserved as signs of the evolution of Austin's cultural production from the early '60s through the present, which have helped shape the self-conception of the city itself. Austin Museum of Popular Culture is thus a slice of Austin itself, and shouldn't be missed.
